THE CONFIDENT CANINE

CROWD SOURCING: This would be a wonderful Zoom class. Please let me know if this venue would interest you for this fearful dog class. I think I would be able to help more dogs out doing it this way and could be more flexible time wise. Please email me with your thoughts: treefrogfarm@gmail.com. Liz

The Confident Canine is a four-week class that goes at each dog's individual speed. We do have materials to work with in each of the four classes, but few are "traditional" obedience behaviors. When working with dogs who may be overwhelmed by their environment, we must move slowly as to avoid making them uncomfortable and unable to learn. Participants are encouraged to take the necessary time to acclimate their dog to new environments and to reward desirable behaviors frequently. These behaviors may be as simple as the dog quickly looking up toward the "owner." Little steps mean a lot when a dog is riddled with fear and/or anxiety, so we celebrate each "baby step" of progress. Each dog is treated as an individual who needs to progress at his/her own pace.

The Confident Canine is a 4-week class and the cost is $160.

CANINE FITNESS FUN CLASS, 4 WEEKS, $160

Through specific exercises we can improve body awareness, flexibility, balance, speed, mobility and muscular strength –- overall improving our dog’s performance and reducing their risk of injury. Conditioning increases our dog's ability to carry load on their muscles. This is important as injuries occur when muscles experience excessive lengthening and stretching and are unprepared for such a load. Another factor in injuries is muscular fatigue, which causes our dogs to lose their ability to maintain position or causes stumbles and falls. While exercise like long walks or running in the back yard is good for maintaining large muscle groups, the deeper muscles which activate when our dog loses balance or tries to avoid slipping are often neglected and are often the areas in which we see greater injury. Conditioning exercises not only have physical benefits to your dog but also mental ones. They are a great way to strengthen the bond you have with your dog ~~~ they love playing with you!

Starts Monday, January 13, 6:15 to 7:15pm, instructor Karen
